Mixed Conditionals — когда времена «смешиваются»

Смысл:

Мы соединяем разные моменты времени:

• причина в прошлом → результат сейчас
• причина сейчас → результат в прошлом

Type 1: Past condition → Present result

📌 Форма

If + Past Perfect, would / could / might + infinitive

📌 Когда используем

• Жалеем о прошлом
• Говорим, как прошлое повлияло на настоящее

Примеры

• If I had studied harder, I would have a better job now.
• If she hadn’t missed the flight, she would be here with us.

🧠 Мыслим так:

Тогда → поэтому сейчас так

Type 2: Present condition → Past result

📌 Форма

If + Past Simple, would have + V3

📌 Когда используем

• Настоящее состояние человека
• Черта характера, ситуация

Примеры

• If I weren’t so shy, I would have spoken to her yesterday.
• If he had more confidence, he would have applied for the job.

🧠 Мыслим так:

Сейчас я такой → поэтому тогда так вышло

Inverted Conditionals — формально и элегантно

👉 If исчезает, а вспомогательный глагол выходит вперёд

Используется в:

• formal writing
• speeches
• advanced exams (CAE / CPE)

Inversion with Had (Third conditional)

📌 Форма

Had + subject + V3, would have + V3

✔ Had I known about the meeting, I would have attended.

(= If I had known…)

Inversion with Were (Second conditional)

📌 Форма

Were + subject + to + infinitive / adjective

✔ Were I you, I would apologise.

✔ Were the situation to change, we would reconsider.

Inversion with Should (First conditional, formal)

📌 Форма

Should + subject + infinitive

✔ Should you require any further information, please contact us.

(= If you require…)

Mixed + Inversion (уровень бог 😎)

Можно совмещать:

✔ Had she taken the offer, she would be working abroad now.

✔ Were he more organised, he wouldn’t have missed the deadline.

Conditional clauses WITHOUT “if”

Using otherwise

• You should hurry up, otherwise you’ll miss the train.

Using but for / if it weren’t for

• But for your help, I would have failed.
• If it weren’t for his advice, we’d be lost.

Using provided / as long as

• You can stay provided you follow the rules.
